From 1 January 2026, reserve officers with civilian government employment will be entitled to 100% salary supplementation during military service in wartime positions, up to 25 days per year. This is announced by the Association of Reserve Officers following the conclusion of negotiations in this year's collective bargaining for the government sector.

According to the association, previously only 20 percent of the civilian base salary was paid during service, which they claim has resulted in a significant loss of income for many.

– Salary supplementation can determine whether the reserve officer can serve militarily or not, so this affects Swedish defence capability, says association chairman Magnus Konradsson in a press release from the Association of Reserve Officers.

He now also urges state-owned companies to follow suit.

– It is truly time for state-owned companies to do the same. Defence is one of the state's core activities. All reserve officers must be able to afford to serve in the Armed Forces, he says.
