The government has approved the Swedish Fortifications Agency's purchase of seven properties from Specialfastigheter valued at over 8.2 billion kronor, writes the Swedish Fortifications Agency in a press release.

The properties cover a total of 180,000 square meters and house several central defense facilities, including the Swedish Armed Forces headquarters on Lidingövägen, FMV's main office Tre Vapen in Stockholm, as well as FOI's offices in Kista and Umeå.

– Consolidating these properties in our portfolio is both cost-effective and rational, says Caroline Reuterskiöld Wall, Deputy Director General and Chief Legal Officer at the Swedish Fortifications Agency.

The agreement was concluded in March this year, but was conditional on government approval. According to the Swedish Fortifications Agency, access to the properties will occur in October and December 2025.

The background to the deal is the Swedish Fortifications Agency's ambition to strengthen control and long-term management of important defense facilities, which according to previous reports, is also expected to increase security for tenants such as the Swedish Armed Forces, FMV, and FOI.
