FMV has signed a contract with Saab for the modernisation of Sweden's heavy coastal missile capability. The order concerns the anti-ship missile RBS15 Mk3, which will be integrated onto mobile platforms and replace its predecessor, the RBS15 Mk2. The order value amounts to 800 million kronor, and deliveries to the Swedish Armed Forces are set to begin in 2026.

– Given the current global situation, it is important to strengthen anti-ship capability with mobile units that can be rapidly redeployed, says Ulrika Tode, head of FMV Naval Materiel Surface Weapons.

The RBS15 Mk3 has a range of over 200 kilometres and is specifically developed to operate in complex environments such as the Baltic Sea. The missile can be launched from both ships and land-based trucks, providing flexibility in its use.

– Sweden will now gain a significant capability increase in the form of an anti-ship missile with a more advanced seeker, longer range, and larger warhead. The RBS15 is specifically developed for the complex environment and harsh weather conditions found in the Baltic Sea, says Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's business area Dynamics.
