The Danish Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation (FMI, Forsvarsministeriets Materiel- og Indkøbsstyrelse) has signed a new framework agreement for the procurement of combat uniforms for the Danish Armed Forces, the Danish Home Guard (Hjemmeværnet) and the Danish Emergency Management Agency (Beredskabsstyrelsen), after delivery of the previous uniform system, NCU, was halted due to quality issues.
FMI states that the new uniform type is designated M/26 and is being procured from the supplier Seyntex, which produces the uniforms in collaboration with Crye Precision. The agreement covers lightweight combat uniforms, heavyweight combat uniforms and combat base layers for the entire Danish Armed Forces, as well as the Home Guard and the Emergency Management Agency.
"I am pleased to be able to sign this new framework agreement for the combat uniforms. With this agreement, we are not only ensuring that everyone can quickly receive new uniforms of high quality. We are also ensuring a good fit for both men and women. The new uniforms are supplied in a unique male and female cut," says Colonel Thomas Øgendahl Knudsen, head of the land forces division at FMI.
The supplier will deliver the new uniforms on a rolling basis from October 2026 to October 2027. The final prioritisation and delivery plan will be decided by the Danish Defence Command (Forsvarskommandoen), according to FMI.
Those elements of the NCU system not considered to have quality issues will continue to be procured under the original framework agreement. This applies to undergarments, mid-layer clothing, winter clothing and rain gear. Within the Danish Navy (Søværnet), the M/26 will be delivered in blue.
Combat uniform items from the NCU system that have already been delivered will be replaced on a continuous basis as the M/26 is distributed. Conscripts beginning service in August 2026 are expected to be equipped with NCU and M/11 in accordance with the current clothing allocation at each respective garrison, according to FMI.
