Fortifikationsverket, together with Norway's Forsvarsbygg and Finland's Försvarsfastigheter, has signed a declaration of intent for deepened cooperation. The agreement, signed in Svalbard, aims to strengthen collaboration in areas such as fortification, host nation support, sustainability, and research.

– This is an important indication that our three countries need to accelerate our cooperation. As both Sweden and Finland became NATO members, the issue has become even more relevant, says Maria Bredberg Pettersson, Director General of Fortifikationsverket, in a press release from the agency.

The cooperation includes joint planning of host nation support for NATO partners, an issue that has gained increased importance as Finland, Sweden, and Norway are expected to be part of the same regional NATO structure.

– There is a good foundation for cooperation from before. Finland's and Sweden's NATO accession and the large investments in defense infrastructure in all three countries have made the cooperation even more important, says Matias Warsta, Head of Försvarsfastigheter, in a press release from the Finnish agency.

The parties will exchange experiences through joint meetings, conferences, and test activities. The trilateral cooperation is also part of the broader Nordic-Baltic defense property network, in which all Nordic and Baltic countries, except Iceland, participate.
