Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk have visited Camp Jomsborg in southeastern Poland, a training centre where Ukrainian soldiers are being trained for the frontline. The training is led by instructors from the Nordic and Baltic countries, according to press releases from both Norway and Poland.

– Over the past four years, the Ukrainian people have fought for freedom and democracy. Here, the soldiers receive training that is directly tailored to Ukraine's needs, which is an important support in their struggle, said Støre in the press release.

The training is led by Norway in close cooperation with Poland and other Nordic and Baltic countries. It includes both training and equipment for two brigades within Ukraine's armed forces.

The prime ministers also held a bilateral meeting and emphasised the close defence and security cooperation between Norway and Poland, which also includes energy, trade, and strategic relations. Additionally, the geopolitical situation along NATO's eastern and northern flank was discussed.

– This training site (Camp Jomsborg) is a symbol of the cooperation between countries in the new format, which we have been working on for several months. We Poles know how important it is to strengthen defence cooperation on NATO's eastern and northern flank, commented Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk in the press release.

Operation Legio is based on an agreement from October 2025 between Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Poland, Sweden, and Ukraine. The agreement allows for the development of Ukrainian brigades according to modern standards and NATO principles.
