Saab Builds Factory for Carl-Gustaf in India
Saab has started building a factory in India to manufacture Carl-Gustaf, marking their first manufacturing facility outside Sweden. This step strengthens the bilateral cooperation between Sweden and India.
The factory, which will be wholly owned by Saab through the new subsidiary Saab FFVO India, marks the company's first manufacturing facility outside Sweden for the Carl-Gustaf.
According to Görgen Johansson, head of Saab's Dynamics business area, this is a proud milestone for the company.
- I am proud that we are starting the construction of the factory in India. It will be our first facility outside Sweden manufacturing the Carl-Gustaf, says Görgen Johansson in the press release.
Håkan Jevrell, State Secretary to Sweden's Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade, sees this as an important step for the bilateral cooperation between Sweden and India.
- Today is an important milestone for Sweden and India. Saab's facility will be the first foreign wholly-owned factory in India producing defense equipment. It demonstrates the strong bilateral cooperation between our countries, says State Secretary Håkan Jevrell.
According to Saab, the collaboration will include Indian subcontractors and meet the requirements of the Make in India initiative for foreign investments in manufacturing in India.
