Kongsberg Delivers Weapon Stations to Patria
Patria has signed a contract worth approximately 140 million euros with Kongsberg for the delivery of the Protector RS4 weapon station to Sweden and Germany. The deliveries include equipment for over 300 vehicles within the CAVS programme and are scheduled to take place between 2026 and 2030.
Patria has signed a contract with Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace regarding the delivery of weapon stations for over 300 armoured vehicles. The agreement is valued at approximately 140 million euros and includes materiel for Sweden and Germany within the framework of the CAVS programme.
– We are very proud to support the CAVS member countries with a common Patria 6x6 configuration equipped with RS4. The collaboration allows nations to act quickly and manage maintenance locally, says Jussi Järvinen, head of Patria's business unit Protected Mobility, in a press release.
The deliveries concern the remote-controlled weapon station Protector RS4 for the Patria 6x6 vehicle system. The order includes systems for Sweden as well as subsystems for several vehicle variants that Germany ordered in December 2025, as previously reported by NDS earlier reported. The assembly of the vehicles will take place in collaboration with German industrial partners, and deliveries are planned to continue between 2026 and 2030.
According to Kongsberg, the contract positions the Protector RS4 as the standard configuration for weapon stations in the multinational vehicle fleet.
– We are pleased to expand our cooperation with the Swedish and German armed forces. This agreement confirms Kongsberg's position as a supplier of remote-controlled weapon stations, says Kjetil Reiten Myhra, Vice President at Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace.
The Finnish-led CAVS programme (Common Armoured Vehicle System) currently includes seven nations: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Norway. Patria is responsible for the development of the 6x6 system and has so far contracted nearly 2,000 vehicles, of which over 300 have been delivered. The vehicles are also used operationally in Ukraine.
