Senop has been awarded a contract by the French Defence Procurement Agency, DGA, regarding the thermal sight AFCD TI. The procurement is conducted in collaboration with Saab, and deliveries are expected to commence in 2026.
– This contract is an important recognition of our successful international expansion strategy and our long-term commitment to delivering reliable and technologically advanced capabilities, says Aki Korhonen, CEO of Senop Oy, in a press release.
The procurement was preceded by a multi-year evaluation process where Senop collaborated with DGA and Saab's business unit Ground Combat. According to the manufacturer, the system has been adapted and validated during the project to meet the technical specifications.
Senop AFCD TI is a digital sight developed for shoulder-fired weapon systems. The unit integrates day and night vision as well as image fusion with a laser rangefinder and ballistic calculator. The sight is qualified for the Carl-Gustaf M3 and M4 weapon systems, and was purchased at the end of 2024 by Saab, as previously reported by NDS.
The system is designed to increase first-shot accuracy and double the effective combat range compared to traditional aiming devices, according to Senop. It can be used at all hours of the day.
In addition to the hardware, training, maintenance support, and lifecycle services are included in the agreement. Details regarding the contract value or the number of units have not been disclosed.
– The system has matured and now supports several of Saab's weapon systems, making it an excellent choice for users with multiple shoulder-fired systems, says product manager Lasse Elomaa.
