Two American B-1B Lancers from the Bomber Task Force landed at Luleå-Kallax airport to be based at Norrbotten Wing, F 21. This is the second time American bombers are based in Sweden, writes the Swedish Armed Forces in a press release.

– In these troubled times with an imminent NATO membership, it is important to have committed partners. We have repeatedly conducted joint exercises with the Bomber Task Force where we have practised the entire chain, from escort and communication to live weapon deployment. Now our cooperation continues by once again basing the B1-B Lancer on Swedish soil to exercise together, says Air Force Chief Major General Jonas Wikman in the Swedish Armed Forces' press release.

According to a press release from USAFE (US Air Forces Europe, editor's note), the aircraft come from the 28th Bomb Wing at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota. Crew and support personnel will collaborate with the Swedish Armed Forces, NATO countries, and "other international partners" to synchronise capabilities and demonstrate support.
